Bali in My Mind

I'm so proud and lucky to be able to call the beautiful island of Bali, my home island. The people is friendly and the daily life is so infused with culture. Often you will find Balinese ceremony take place; the people, the ritual, the colour, and to be there where art is an integral part of living, I find myself brimming with inspiration. This illustration is meaningful to me, other than the fact that it's inspired by the island I so love, it's the first illustration that I attempted to draw a person. It's still a bit stiff, no doubt, but hey, I tackled it. In the past, I always shied away from drawing people, but I decided it's time for me to start practicing.

Baby E: It's his first time on the plane and we are going to Bali! We offered him a pacifier for the first time as well to help him feeling more relax and *God bless him* being a smart baby, he dropped it himself once he's not so fretful. We are no longer worried that he'll grow attached to the pacifier.

Friends and Food...

From 11 to 15 October we were in Bali for our church friends' wedding. It was nice going back home one last time this year before the delivery due in December.

Weekend in Bali

.: July 12-15, 2013 :.

My cousin got married! We went back to Bali to attend his wedding. Congratz to the newly weds. It seems like yesterday when me, my brother, my newly wedded cousin and his sister plus another one of our closest cousins played a video game in the middle of the night on a Balinese Silent Day. We giggled aloud, cooked fried rice while enduring my cousins' maid constant nagging to tell us to go to bed. That was, what, more than 15 years ago! My goodness, how time flies. Does that realization make you want to cherish every single minute of your life? To not take for granted every moment no matter how insignificant that might be? Because if there is one thing you cannot get back, it's time.

My dad's big brother brought this morning glory flower, well, he and dad share a same hobby, gardening. My uncle showed me a picture of morning glory well tended bush, it was so pretty, the flowers all bloomed. He's hoping that dad will plant them around the pool haha. I can't imagine how pretty it will be. One of the pictures above is Balinese suckling pig we had for lunch at Babi Guling Chandra in Denpasar. It's similar to that of the famous Ibu Oka suckling pig. I like it better coz we don't need to drive for an hour to go to Ubud to have an authentic suckling pig.

In Bali

From April 27 til May 1st, we were in Bali, practically doing nothing other than sleeping, swimming and eating haha. This was my first trip after we found out we're expecting and people around us advised to keep it easy and don't do anything physically demanding. As much as I was thrilled about the Bali - Lombok trip, I was worried for weeks before our flight but thank God, during doctor appointment just a day before the trip, we could see the lil bean's heartbeat. So that was assuring in itself.

A week in Bali, meeting my family, my pet dog, were refreshing and it was nice not to worry about work-related matters. I was thankful at this 7th week pregnant, I didn't have nausea only slight dizziness at times so I still could eat my fave balinese mix rice and other good stuff.

We wanted to record everything we could about being pregnant and that include a photo each week. Oh I'm hoping I can stick with this idea without abandon it somewhere along the way.  Well, here's our 7th week photo at the backyard. The sonogram picture I'm holding was taken on April 26 and the baby's age is 6 week 1 day.

I don't think I could ever get enough of Pretty, my smart puppy.  She followed me everywhere and remember me even though I can only get to meet her twice in a year. And ohh... look at how she sleeps...

Bali Highlights

.: March 27-31, 2013 :.

This holiday turned out to be a beginning of a new chapter for us, unexpected but it's a greatest joy, no question. More to that in later posts :D We had so much fun in Bali together with our dear family friends, visited Villa Maya in Ubud, attacked plates of salted egg crabs, and had tons of laughter. But towards the end of our holiday, I got sick with fever as high as 38.5 degree and had to take medical leave from office for a week. It was worth all the fun though haha. So here are the highlights:

Villa Sahita

It was a day after our marriage.

I wanted to draw something in this villa to make me remember the moment.

So,

at our room's balcony overlooking the sea, I found this huge pot of some kind of flower. Quickly sketched it before we had our breakfast.
